Genshin Impact Archons Guide: Seven Gods, Lore & Gameplay

Share

In
Genshin Impact, the world of Teyvat is made up of seven nations. Each nation is
ruled by a powerful god called Archon. Each Archon represents one element.
These gods are not just part of the story — they are central to the game’s
world, quests, and characters.
They
shape the land, the people, and the story you experience. This guide will help
you understand all you want to know about these 7 Archons. And if you want to
upgrade and premium content, Genshin Impact Top Up will help you shine in
Genshin Impact!
What Is an Archon?
An
Archon is a divine ruler chosen to govern one of the seven nations of Teyvat.
Each Archon is tied to one of the seven elements: Wind, Rock, Lightning, Nature,
Water, Fire, and Ice.
Long
ago, during the Archon War, many gods fought for control of the world. In the
end, only seven were recognized by the Heavens and allowed to rule. These seven
became the current Archons.
Each
Archon also represents a belief they hold. These beliefs are not just words.
They shape how each nation lives, thinks, and fights.
As
you play through the game, you’ll meet these gods one by one. Some will
challenge you. Some will join your team. All of them will teach you something
about the world of Teyvat.
Who are these Archons in Geshin Impact?
1. Barbatos – The Wind of Freedom (Mondstadt)
Also
known as: Venti
Element:
Anemo (Wind)
Nation:
Mondstadt
Ideal:
Freedom
Unique
Trait: He acts carefree, but carries deep grief
Fun
Fact: He wrote songs about freedom, but once failed to save his friend,
Decarabian
Gameplay
Style: Crowd control master – pulls enemies together with his skill and burst
Personality:
Playful, poetic, and loves dandelion wine
Venti
is the first Archon you will meet in Genshin Impact. He looks like a lazy bard
who loves drinking wine. But he is actually over 2,600 years old — one of the
oldest beings in Teyvat.
He
gave up direct rule long ago, letting people govern Mondstadt. Because he
believes true freedom means being free to make your own choices — even
mistakes.
In
the story, Venti will help you uncover the truth behind the old gods and the
fallen knight, Decarabian.
💡 Tip: Use Venti in Swirl teams with
Anemo supports like Kazuha or Sucrose.
2. Morax – The God of Contracts (Liyue)
Also
known as: Zhongli
Element:
Geo (Rock)
Nation:
Liyue
Ideal:
Contracts and Order
Unique
Trait: A 6,000-year-old dragon who loves tea and contracts
Fun
Fact: He helped build Liyue’s economy and even worked as a consultant at Liyue
Qixing
Gameplay
Style: Strongest shield in the game; also deals high Geo damage
Personality:
Calm, polite, and speaks like a scholar
Zhongli
is the former god of Liyue, once known as the dragon god Morax. He ruled for
over 6,000 years, building Liyue on trade, contracts, and stability.
Unlike
other gods, he chose to step down and let humans run Liyue on their own. He
believes that real strength isn’t in power — it’s in trusting others.
You
meet Zhongli during the Liyue Archon Quest. At first, he seems cold, but he
deeply cares about his people and their future all the time.
💡 Tip: Pair Zhongli with Geo characters
(like Albedo or Ningguang) to trigger Crystallize reactions and gain elemental
shards.
3. Beelzebul – The God of Eternity (Inazuma)
Also
known as: Raiden Shogun / Makoto
Element:
Electro (Lightning)
Nation:
Inazuma
Ideal:
Eternity
Unique
Trait: She has a puppet body and a real self meditating in another realm
Fun
Fact: Her real name is Makoto, and she created the Plane of Euthymia to seek
eternity
Gameplay
Style: Best battery in the game – gives energy to her teammates when she uses
her burst
Personality:
Cold and strict, but deeply loyal to Inazuma
The
Raiden Shogun is both a warrior and a ruler. She wants to protect Inazuma by
making everything unchanging and eternal. To do this, she closed the nation’s
borders and removed people’s “storms”( their emotions and desires).
Raiden
Shogun once believed eternity meant no change. But after meeting you, she
realizes that true eternity comes from growth and moving forward.
While
she uses a puppet body while her real self meditates in the plane of eternity.
💡 Tip: Focus on Energy Recharge. The more
energy she gets, the faster she can use her burst — and that powers up your
whole team.
4. Nahida – The God of Wisdom (Sumeru)
Also
known as: Lesser Lord Kusanali
Element:
Dendro (Nature)
Nation:
Sumeru
Ideal:
Wisdom
Unique
Trait: She was a child for 500 years, trapped and ignored
Fun
Fact: She learned everything by reading books and talking to small forest
creatures
Gameplay
Style: Top-tier Dendro support – enables Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Aggravate
reactions
Personality:
Gentle, wise, and speaks with quiet confidence
Nahida
is the youngest Archon. The previous Dendro Archon, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata,
died 500 years ago. So Nahida became the new god while still a child.
For
hundreds of years, the sages of Sumeru kept her trapped and weakened on the
grounds of protection. They didn’t think a child could be a true god.
But
with your help, she gets her strength back. She becomes the real leader of
Sumeru. Now, she teaches true wisdom — not just books and rules, but
understanding life, nature, and people.
She
is kind, patient, and deeply connected to the Akademiya and the Lantern Rite.
💡 Tip: Use her with Kuki or Yaoyao for
Hyperbloom teams.
5. Fleur – The Hydro Archon (Fontaine)
Also
known as: Furina
Element:
Hydro (Water)
Nation:
Fontaine
Ideal:
Justice
Unique
Trait: She wasn’t the real Hydro Archon — but carried its power for 500 years
Fun
Fact: She lived alone, hated by the public, to keep the prophecy from
destroying Fontaine
Gameplay
Style: Unique HP-based support – boosts team damage and healing the lower her
HP is
Personality:
Proud but deeply lonely
For
500 years, Furina carried a heavy secret - she wasn’t the real Hydro Archon.
The true god, Fosfor, had sacrificed herself to save Fontaine.
To
protect the nation, Furina pretended to be divine. She lived in loneliness,
hated by many, so that the nation could survive.
When
the truth came out, she was put on trial. But you helped show the world that
her sacrifice was real.
💡 Tip: Keep her HP low (safely) to
maximize her damage bonus.
6. Natlan’s Archon – The Fire God (Natlan)
Also
known as: Mavuika
Element:
Pyro (Fire)
Nation:
Natlan
Ideal:
Resistance, Unity, and the Human Spirit
Unique
Trait: Fights alongside warriors as a frontline commander – she leads battles
personally, not from a throne
Fun
Fact: She greets players with "Warrior" instead of
"Traveler"
Gameplay
Style: Pyro DPS main with hybrid melee/ranged attacks; uses "War Cry"
mechanic to boost team damage during combat
Personality:
Brave, fiercely loyal to her people
Mavuika
was once a human warrior in Natlan. She fights alongside warriors instead of
ruling from a palace.
500 years ago, she became the fire god to save
her people from disaster. Now she leads her people through fire and war.
During
the Archon Quest, she calls you "Warrior" when you meet. Together,
you help her stop ancient enemies threatening Natlan.
💡 Tip: Use artifacts that boost Health
and Fire damage. Her big attack deals more team damage when your health is low.
Put her in a team with water characters for double damage!
7. Snezhnaya’s Archon – The Ice Queen(Snezhnaya)
Also
known as: Tsaritsa (Ice Queen)
Element:
Cryo (Ice)
Nation:
Snezhnaya
Ideal:
Endurance or Revolution
Unique
Trait: She may be the only Archon who wants to destroy the current world order
Fun
Fact: She leads the Fatui Harbingers and seems to oppose the Heavens, and never
shows her face
Gameplay
Style: Unknown — Expected to freeze enemies longer and create strong ice
shields (based on 6.0 leaks)
Personality:
Cold, calculating, but possibly driven by love for her people
She
rules Snezhnaya, a cold nation with a powerful army called the Fatui. She is
the leader of the Fatui Harbingers and seems to oppose the current world order.
She
sends the Fatui to challenge other Archons. She wants to break the world’s
rules, and she believes the current gods must fall for true change.
Many
players believe she will be the final antagonist — or perhaps a tragic figure
fighting for her people.
Why Are the Archons Important?
The
Archons are more than just powerful characters. They are the heart of the
game’s story and world.
1. They Shape the Nations
Each
Archon’s ideal becomes part of their nation’s culture:
Mondstadt
lives by freedom and poetry: Bards singing everywhere, and windmills all around
the city.
Liyue
values hard work and contracts: People trade fairly, take promises seriously.
Inazuma
respects discipline and tradition: Samurai keep order, and festivals celebrate
old customs.
Sumeru
is all about knowledge and truth: Scholars study in schools, and secrets hide
in the forests.
Fontaine
believes in justice through trials: Every problem is solved in court.
Natlan
fights for freedom through fire: Tribes battle to prove themselves, and fire
stands for new life.
Snezhnaya
survives by change: Everyone trains like soldiers, and ice shields keep people
safe.
When
you visit a new nation, you’re not just seeing new places. You’re seeing what
God believes in.
2. They Are the Focus of the Main Story
The
Archon Quests are the core storylines of Genshin Impact. Each act spreads over
one Archon:
Act
I: Venti and the truth of Mondstadt
Act
II: Zhongli and the end of god rule
Act
III: Raiden Shogun and the cost of eternity
Act
IV: Nahida and the rebirth of wisdom
Act
V: Furina and the lie that saved a nation
Act
VI: Mavuika and the fire of resistance
Act
VII: Tsaritsa and the final war (future)
3. Most Are Playable and Strong
Venti
– Best for grouping enemies
Zhongli
– Best shield in the game
Raiden
Shogun – Best energy support
Nahida
– Best Dendro support
Furina
– Great for healing and damage
They
are not just story needs — they are top characters in gameplay.
The
Archons are not just gods — they are characters with dreams, pain, and growth.
Some were once human. Some were born from nature. All of them carry the weight
of their people on their shoulders.
As
you travel Teyvat, you’ll see how each Archon tries to protect their nation in
their own way. Even if it means sacrificing themselves.
Keep
exploring. Keep fighting. And one day, you might stand beside — or face — the
final Archon in the battle for the fate of the world.
